Why should we book an author visit?

When children meet an author or illustrator, it opens a door to understanding how the books we love to read were crafted and produced. It invites students to think about where stories come from and why stories matter.

Getting a behind-the-scenes download on the process of writing and drawing a book is inspiring to students, not only from a career perspective, but in giving them real-world connections to their own writing and drawing! Learning about drafts, revisions, and final copies is relatable to students, who are familiar with these concepts, but may not have connections to real-world applications.

Validation of the creative process, in all its parts, is a special experience for children and a tool to carry forward in life.
